Why can't I recieve im messages from people on my contact list . It is like there is a block on it ,?

I can type them messages and they can read them but I have to sigh out of the messenger and sigh back in to read thier responds .

You should be able to IM back and forth with somebody from your contact list. I do this all the time. The only time you can not send is if your contact has a block on . If you have a block on, then your contact won't be able to send you any IM messages. This block is on Ignore list under Privacy Under Yahoo Messenger. This list can also be found under conversation under Privacy Options and the Ignore List in the IM window.

When you ignore a contact, you always appear offline to the contact. They cannot view your status or send you an IM.

You must delete the contact from your Messenger List in order to ignore them.

To ignore a contact:

Click the "Messenger" menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Preferences."
Click the "Ignore List" category.
Select the option labeled "Ignore only the people below."
Click the "Add" button.
Enter the Yahoo ID of the contact you want to ignore.
Click the "Ignore" button.
Click "OK" at the bottom of the window.
You can ignore up to 100 contacts.

Note: To remove a contact from your Ignore List, select the ID and click the "Remove" button.

To ignore someone who is not on your Messenger List:

Click the "Messenger" menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Preferences."
Click the "Ignore List" category.
Select the option labeled "Ignore anyone who is not on my Messenger List."
Click "OK" at the bottom of the window

You should check those settings to see if that's the cause of your problem. You can also check under steath settings which make you appear online to somebody and offline to others.
