Yeah, its called dont be lazy, clean your room and dont allow yourself to get it to get dirty. I keep on my kids to always clean their room. Every morning, beds are made, rooms are picked up. Every weekend, they vacuum their carpet, and take turns cleaning their bathroom.

Find cleaning solutions that smell great. Get some scented Plug-Ins that will help with the fresh smell, too. Put on loud music....high energy stuff. Grab a garbage bag and throw away anything that is not needed desperately. Get rid of clutter! Pick up all clothing and toss it in the laundry if it's dirty or in closet for sorting later. Vacuum quickly and then dust. Make the bed and tuck in corners and you are done! It shouldn't take longer than 30 minutes if you get moving. Then.....try some maintenance. Don't toss clothes in the floor. Get a laundry basket and put it in the closet to keep it out of sight. Put at least one garbage can in your room to catch the clutter....and dust at least once every other week. The music should help, but there is no substitute for elbow grease and hard work.

Um, leave? As in, if you don't clear a path to the door you'll be stuck in your room indefinitely? Or is it because you'll be grounded if you don't clean it up?

Regardless, I find that music helps a lot. I throw on some really high-energy stuff, like techno or dance, and just go at it. I start with something simple, like making the bed. If you have to clear off you're bed in order to make it, then put everything you take off of the bed where it belongs. Then move on from there.

It also helps to reward yourself for a job well done. If you successfully clean you're room, treat yourself to a movie or a window-shopping at the mall, or whatever makes you happy. It can be a really good motivational tool.

Hope that helps.

Make your bed first. It will instantly look cleaner and you'll have a workspace. Then throw all your laundry in a laundry basket, even its clean. You can sort it later. Anything else on the floor or desktops, put it on your bed first. To sort through it, just throw away any trash and put the rest in a box. Put the box and laundry basket in your closet. Done. Leave. Take it from a master procrastinator. I'd rather sit around coming up with ideas to half *** it than to actually just clean it :)

Turn on your radio for starters - that makes anything more fun. Then make piles - sort clothing into two piles - dirty and clean, garbage into another, papers and books in another, etc. Start hanging and folding the clean clothes, throw the dirty ones in the hamper - you'd be surprised at the difference that will make! Grab a bag for all the garbage and stack the books and papers! REDECORATE! Sometimes, moving things around makes you WANT to clean so your new idea looks great!

Buy a couple storage or under bed boxes. Keep them empty. When you don't have the time, energy, or willpower to clean up, put everything in these boxes. Then make a deadline for yourself to empty them again. You don't have to do it all at once. If your boxes are plain, you can wrap them in pretty paper or apply some contac paper and then they can add to you room's decoration.

Put on some upbeat music that you like and just start doing it. It always seems worse than it really is, once you get started it won't be so bad. Also, it helps if you open a window and get some fresh air.

If you plan on leaving with your friends ask them to help. I know that's what my daughter does with her cousins. She returns the favor as well. Listening to music is always a way to boost your energy.

As a mom, just get off the computer, put on some music and just do it! My step kids waste more time and effort trying to avoid work than it takes to just get it done.
