Kim Jong Il may be a fairly maniacal man, but that doesn't mean he's inhuman. Nobody on earth ever wants nuclear war, not even the most insane of dictators. Launching a nuclear attack on the United States would be an even bigger folly, since we have the highest number of fully functional nuclear warheads on earth. In essence, any country that launches a nuclear attack on any other country will have more nukes raining down on them, no matter what country it is, causing the deaths of millions of innocent civilians, and no leader ever wants that.

Very difficult situation, in an ideal world there would be no nuclear weapons anywhere. As some countries do have them then logically North Korea should be allowed to have them as well. I think some tough decisions need to be made by countries who already have these pointless weapons.

The leader of the North Korean people is a small little man (really) & this makes him appear large in the eyes of his people. He is thumbing his nose at the world because he knows no one can do anything about it.It started with Clinton who promised him all kinds of food aid if he got rid of the nuke program, which he did for a couple years but then he started it up again. But we kept our word & continued the food shipments. He is making all this noise to hear himself talk. We should be standing up to this little toad instead of b owing to him. GW is doing better then Clinton but not enought.

North Korea negotiates this way: if they want a mile, they DEMAND ten. With the USA bogged down in Iraq, they know there's little chance for military involvement by the USA. Its a very dangerous game of "brinksmanship".

It must be fiction, because they never launched a nuclear missle in the first place. A few weeks ago, they launched a long range missle into the Atlantic, but never a nuclear one.

But if we try to stop them, all of the hippies will start crying like they are doing for the war in Iraq right now. But I say screw it, lets blow 'em up!!

They are going ahead with the test simply to show the world they can. By flexing their muscles they hope to have a stronger hand at the negotiation table.

They are not testing another missle, they are going to do an underground nuclear test. Which is a violation.
