I don't get it either. The hippie trip doesn't work...at least for me. I couldn't qualify for the handout.

You only feel like it "slaps you in the face", maybe because your reasons for doing something have not been based on logic or genuine feeling for someone or your own peace of mind.. But don't give up, what ever you do, good or bad, will come back to you amplified many times. Maybe you've given advice that did not suit someone's situation? Or you did something "nice" without really knowing what someone really wanted out of you?? Be specific.
I've learned that an advice usually better serves the one who gives it... Just a thought.

I can understand what you are saying completely... I have the same problem. But you have to just keep trying. If you quit, then you definitely get nothing.
Prayer helps me a lot, it helps to know that I am not alone and that God is always there with me, through the good and the bad.
If it is horrible now, it can only get better right? Just keep on.

Though it may seem that for every step forward you make you take two back, perserverence pays! I am 50 and I felt like the first thrity years of my life were a waste of my time and everyone elses, and my efforts were for nought, but now I am reaping rewards for the hard work and effort. hang in there, it gets better....slowly.

It's not what you get out of the work you do, its the satisfaction of knowing you tried your hardest to do a good job that matters.

It's called obstacles. People deal with them very day. It's just up to you to keep moving forward and don't let anything or anybody stop you.
