My boyfriend was put in prison 17 years ago for attempted murder. It was a self defense thing. Anyhow my ex-husband is pitching a fit that I am with this guy and is threatening to take my son from me. My boyfriend is the nicest guy you'd ever meet. He treats me like a princess and adores my son. We've never been happier. He is no threat and has paid for his actions. He has turned his life around and is making a good life for himself. Is there any way my ex-husband has a chance to take my son from me? He thinks the courts will side with him and everyone I've talked to says he doesn't have a leg to stand on. What do you think?

I wouldnt worry too much. Like you said, he paid his debt to society and if hes an upstanding citizen like you claim, then you probably have no worries. Good luck.

Legally, if your boyfriend isn't breaking any current laws, then there's nothing your ex can do. He's just upset and making empty threats. If you are providing a safe loving environment for your son I wouldn't worry about the ex. The only leg he has to stand on is if the crime your boyfriend committed were against a child. So don't worry about it.

He probably could take you to court and try to say this guy you are with is bad news, but as long as your bf is staying on the up and up I don't see a problem. Make sure that if you do go to court, you have a lawyer and just be honest about everything.
Your bf has paid his debt to society and if he's doing the right thing now then he can't be condemned for that.

Yes there is a chance that the courts will give your ex husband your son because of ur bf has a felony in attempted murderer. The courts will tell you to either give up ur son or give up ur bf because my cuzin had the same source and they told her to get rid of the guy or the kid

Sorry to tell you this but the courts will take your child from you. The courts will not allow a felon in the house with a child when the ex is able to take care of his son. You may need to choose who you want, your son or b/f.

when dealing with the courts in matters of children. your ex has too show that you are unfit to take care of your child. that means both finacially and mentally. Be prepared to prove that your competent to raise the child and that you've already made good decision's regarding the enviorment your shild is being raised in.

no he doesnt have a chance to take your kid away. like 90% of the time the kid goes with the mother, and it sounds like you are divorced and you got the kid anyways. so what is he going to do? say because your new BF is an ex con, that you arent fit to raise your kid? he doesnt have a leg to stand on, he doesnt even have a bloody ******* stump. he has no case against you. unless you are unable to care for the kid properly, which it doesnt sound like you are, you will get the kid.

Your bf has paid his time, your husband is maybe over- jealous. What is your husband doing now, has he got a partner? Why did you seperate, was it because your bf came 'out'. Sounds a bit complicated to me......
