Maybe. Thats what happened to me. I dated my husband for 6 years and we went out for a romantic dinner and he proposed at the hotel afterwards. Its not trashy either for all you haters out there. Everyone is different and we can't all be princesses. Good luck!!

Ok, this is the deal...he might be!! He could have a suite at a very expensive motel with a candle light dinner waiting with someone playing music in the background all the while out on a balcony overlooking the city with the stars dancing around you. Could be that he doesn't like to do things in public. Maybe he has rose petals all over the bed with champagne chilling nearby. Bath water with lavender scent wafting through the room...candles everywhere. It could happen.. I would ask him which hotel you are going to and then do some detective work...call and see which room for that night is reserved...tell them that you are trying to surprise him..they will be more apt to give you info that way. If it is somewhere you have been before with him ..maybe the first place you did the "tango"...maybe he is....Just don't get yourself all wired up for nothing....Don't expect anything but maybe s.e.x. and then if things start going another way, just hang in there....I would wear something nice...not too dressy but something that speaks volume without him thinking your expecting something. Cause maybe he did invite the family, maybe they are in a banquet room or the motels restaurant and he just gave you the bare facts....you know? Good luck....go easy on the make-up...wear a nice dress (not long, not short) classy.....Good Luck

Is a Motel really where you want to remember such an important event. Either he has no romantic imagination and wants to ask the biggest question of you life in a motel or he is looking to ask for something else.
If you are not yet sexually active, it sounds like that is his plan. Why else would a young man take a girl to a bed? If you are already having sex he may be planning something more romantic and special.
Just remember: Do you really want to explain to your family, friends and future children that your husband asked you to spend the rest of your lives together in a Motel6?

well where everybody tended to not pay attention to was the fact that it was your idea to go to the motel. He just said he had a surprise so its you that wants to go the motel. I would think the surprise might be some romantic sexual type of thing. Because you are going to the motel. But If I go with my man to the mote its usually to get it in. I hope he wouldnt propose to you there but good luck anyway.

I am thinking that you met him when you were about 11.
So, I will tell you truly that the only reason he is taking you to a motel is to sleep with you though he will deny it til he is blue in the face.
Go to the motel after the marriage for the honeymoon and not before.

Girl, you' re so naive. What makes u think that ? Heres some advice: stay single until u figure out the real world or at least get rid of that loser ( who carries u to a motel for ur birthday( wow that sounds like fun)

That is really a lame place to propose. Maybe he wants to propose the idea of acting out a scene from Pretty Woman. Come on chick, he just wants to have wild, crazy motel sex with you. And for further advice, don't ever marry a guy until you have lived with him. Trust me on that.

I doubt it. He's wanting to have sex with you. I've never heard of a "motel" engagement, honey. Eight years is a long time. Maybe it's time to move on. I would be insulted if a man gave me a night at a "motel" for my birthday! Godloveya and happy birthday.

No he is not. What kind of place is a motel to ask someone to marry you. How cheesy. He is trying to bang the living daylights out of you, for Pete's sake.
