Longer than my temper smart-****, now answer the question.
Or just look at them as if they haven't spoken and dribble.

1. Longer than your paltry manhood.
2. WHICH piece of string - the one hanging out your nose or the one stuck between your teeth?
3. Did you mean the one I would use to tie you up with?
4. Very long if its the one holding your car together (and by the way your gerbil needs a rest - that wheel engine of yours is pretty tough on him).
5. You mean the one you use between the two tin cans you call your cell phone?

As long as you want is the classic answer. And I'm afraid it is the best. I suppose you could always say how-hi is a chinaman. To change the subject all together say, If King Kong went to Hong Kong to play ping pong with Anna Mae-Wong how many f's in that.

Whatever response you give, make sure it doesn't involve phallic references. Those are older than time itself.

Anyone who asks how long a piece of string is anyway is more than likely an idiot who won't pick up on a sense of wit, so I'd recommend just ignoring them.

That rather depends on whether you are referring to long, short or medium length string. Retractable, expandable or variable string. Is it bent in half, quarters or eights? You really need to be more precise with your question if you require a precise answer.
