The law enforcement
officer today referred
to that killer of those
little girls as the "gentleman."

That irks me to hear them
referred to by a name
that denotes respect!!!

There is nothing 'gentle'
about them and certainly
nothing 'lady' like!!

Shouldn't they just
refer to them as
'man' or 'woman'?

I agree. They do not deserve any sort of respect at all. It also irks me when they call them "animals". Animals deserve more respect then they do!!

I would presume that the police have been trained to use polite terminology in order to de-escalate stressful situations. It would enflame the public if he were to use the words he would like to... like scumbag or murderer or worse.

He is simply falling back on his training.

Or using sarcasm. Either way.

No, they should NOT be refered to as "gentlemen" or "lady"! The most appropriate would be "alleged" suspect or murderer.
