I am about 45 lbs overweight and 15 1/2 weeks pregnant. A very obese woman once told me that she never felt her baby move. She is about 90 lbs overweight. Is this common? I am very excited to feel my baby move for the first time...and she has me worried that I never will.

I was what they call obese. I felt my baby moving like no other! I felt fluttering at 21 weeks, and as the baby grew there was no denying it. We could even see him rolling, and kicking through my belly.

Sometimes the way a woman's uterus is in her body can change how much the mother feels. And some babies move less then others. The important thing is the health of the mother, and the consistency of the baby.

Your doctor will start having you doing a kick count in a few months, doctors wouldn't do that if it was common not to feel the baby moving.

The important thing is that you feel healthy, and you do your best to stay healthy. You and the baby are what matter not what other people tell you.

There are no two pregnancies that are alike. I was maybe a little overweight when I became pregnant with my first child. I felt him move early on in the life changing event. I also know that being overweight can cause a hard delivery, sometimes prompting a C-section. I had three children by C-section, and I wish I hadn't been overweight. Losing the weight can be a problem in and of itself, but I would enjoy being pregnant and bask in the pleasure of feeling the life inside of me moving around. There is nothing like it!

There is a big difference in being 45 lbs overweight and being 90 lbs overweight.

You should feel your baby move even though you are overweight.

I am abut 100lbs overweight...I got pregnant and had no problems. I expected problems, so my Dr monitored me. I actually lost 10 lbs in the pregnancy...I watched everything I ate...I was prepared for diabetes etc, and had a totally uneventful pregnancy. I felt my baby first move at 22 weeks (like everyone else) and trust me...felt it kicking pretty constant after that. When havig u/s's at first I had to have vaginal ones as I carry my extra weight around my abdomen...and I didn't hear the heartbeat until 16 weeks...So don't listen to what other people have to say to you...just enjoy your pregnancy and your baby when its born. I also had an uneventful vaginal birth. So just remember that every woman is different

I'm 50 pounds overweight and felt my daughter close to 4 1/2 months. I actually lost weight my first trimester (with my doctor's approval) because I was worried my weight would make me have a difficult pregnancy and delivery. I ate healthy and cut out all sodas even if they didn't have caffeine and drank tons of water. I exercised a little bit and lost 16 pounds. I had a wonderful pregnancy with no complications and my delivery went well. Good luck! You'll be feeling flutters in about a month or so.

I can speak from my own personal experience, I was almost 100 pounds over weight and I couldn't feel anything. I felt the same as always. But with my second child, I could feel something that just felt like gas or butterflies in my stomach. I also could feel her foot kicking my ribs. So don't feel discouraged, every woman's body is different. What you think is a common feeling, you may be overlooking you babies movement. Good luck!

I was overweight with my last pregnancy and I felt my son everytime he moved. He was very restless at night.(I wonder if that should have been an indication as to what he'd be like after birth? He didnt sleep through the night till 7 mos old. )Don't listen to whoever told you that, you will feel your baby move.

You should feel the baby move. I was overweight as well and felt our daughter move all the time. You may feel it a bit later than skinny women lol. When the baby kicks you WILL feel it lol.

Hmm. I'm more overwieght than that and I'm pretty sure my baby is moving right now. (I'm 19 weeks). Don't worry about it too much, I'm sure that after the fifth or sixth month, not only will you be showing but you will definately be able to feel the baby. :)
