My 15 years old son spent last weekend with me. He went outside to play with the neighbors' kids. Neighbor has a dog who got away trhough the gates by accident and then chased my son. My son ran, jumped over a fence, and then bumped onto another fence and hurt his arm. I moved his arm..it moved..so not broken. It's not swollen, it's not red or blue. It just hurts him. He can't use his left hand to write maybe for a couple of days. I put bengay...then a heat pad. Yesterday he went home and told his dad...dad got upset at me, saying i didn't do anything...hmmm...was I wrong? was I suppose to do something??? if yes, what????

yeah, you were supposed to do something.....tell your ex to kiss your @55, accidents happen. especially to boys, they get into everything. Use your motherly instinct and if you don't feel like he needed to go to the doctor or hospital, you treated his injury how you saw fit, and with love

its pretty normal for the dad to get upset with you because the son was hurt, however, you didnt do anything wrong. You didnt cause the accident, it was an accident. The only thing I can see that you could have done was to tell the ex about the boys accident so he didnt have to find out from the son. Maybe he should have an ex ray done. It could be broken even though he can still move it. good luck

Men don't usually get upset about this type stuff unless 1. it's legitimately serious (ie, his arm is broken or contused), or 2. you've pulled some petty shi* on him in the past regarding your son, and he wants to give you a taste of your own medicine.

If it's the first, then you should've taken him for an xray. If the second, then I feel sorry for your kid.

You probably should have had him checked by a doctor.
Might not have been broke, but it could have been fractured of sprained and maybe you should have notified him of the accident when it happened.

God knows I don't get along with my ex but if my son gets hurt in my care I call him and when he gets his visits with my son and my son gets injured or gets sick I want to know about it right away and I want him seen by a healthcare professional.

It sounds like dad is looking for a way to get you upset. Ignore him. You did fine with the first aid.
BTW: Boys play hard and get hurt all of the time.

You or your ex should take him to get an xray just to be on the safe side...you probably should call your ex and let him know if the kid gets hurt..that way he has some in put in the dicision making process.

I don't think you needed to do anything else. It wasn't broken. Kids get hurt all the time,it's no big deal. I think he was just looking for any reason at all to get upset with you.

Sounds like sonny boy is playing the two of you, or is excessively whiney. If the injury is truely minor in nature, as you describe it the only better thing to do would be to ice it

Kids get hurt. It happens everyday. Nothing is broken or bleeding. He needs to get over it. Don't sweat it, it's not your fault.

Maybe get an x-ray? Broken arms can move especially if it is a crack.
