I lived in London for 1 year and I have to say that the early fall or springtime are your best bets. The weather is amazing, the people seem to be happier and its just a blast. Also right now is a good time to go because so many of the vacation companies are discounting rates. I always flew on Virgin but there's lots of different options. Let me know if I can help anymore...

Mid to late Sept, is nice. Flights are a bit less expensive, the tourist stuff is still open, but you don't have to fight as many people since school has started by then. Also the weather isn't to cold or hot. But be prepared for some rain. Germany was incredible, we just got back from there.

I like April-May (pre summer) and Fall (Sept-Oct.)

Off season... hotels are cheaper... Many ppl are not aware, but Air Conditioning in Mainland Europe is not as prevalent as the US... so I like avoid the hot months.
