The reason black "his"- story is in existent is because the re-telling of past events has been focused mainly on the "whiteman's" achievments without showing black people's contribution to the world we all live in. For e.g a blackman invented the traffic lights, Big Ben (clock in London) was named after a blackman Benjamin Banniker, a architect who also helped to design the white house in Washington D.C. The list goes on but u wouldn't know because of the racist educational system we have all been a victim of.

As a white person I see exactly what you mean. but there again I didn't really believe that the Decade against Racists and Racism worked (1993 to 2003). Thanks for answering the question by th way. I believe that racists are now using the term immigrant to get round laws on racism. I note in the "Sun" that the racist arson attack in Windsor was not reported then when after 2 days of provocation the retaliation is reported in a one side manner. Is it just the level of ignorance in "Yahoo answers" by the answerer's to the issues involved or is it a society wide ignorance. Radio 4 has been broadcasting spotlight on the contribution of Black people to British History for some time as a lead up to Black History Month.

It's February here. I mean Black History month is in Feb, it's still October here too.... I think Black History month is cool. We need to celebrate people like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jelly Jam Jar Johnson, Sam "Lightning" Hopkins, Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix and all the other pioneers in popular music.

When is White History Month?

Or aren't we allowed any history any more?

I'm also looking forward to:-
One-Legged Rasta Lesbian History Month
Gay One-Eyed Muslim History Month
Latvian Homicidal Maniacs in Wheelchairs History Month
Cross-eyed Pakistani Hunchbacks History Month
Toothless Chinese Octagenarian Acrobats History Month

And especially...
Idiotic Annoying Politically Correct Thought Police Who Should Be Kebabbed and Thrown in a Cess Pit History Month.

The History of the World is the same for every one. If we are all to live together then we must recognise and respect the things we share and have in common NOT exaggerate the differences by emphasising one group's history over any other. Maybe some of these politically-correct do-gooders should look up the word EQUALITY and then see how it applies to having a History Month dedicated only to one ethnic group to the exclusion of all others.

I would be more inclined to be interested if there were a white history month, ie there is no history month, only a black one, I imagine? (I am not prejudiced. I live and work in a children's home in Africa and love more black people than I do white.)

The history of primitives is surly of interest mainly to anthropologists. It may be interesting to know if there are any claims that the black races have ever independently contributed to science or engineering.

Through racism Black History has been irradicated. My children are dual heritage and for their positive self image need to know that Black people have contributed a lot to society. Educate yourself and others - history is great.
