kinda sorta....but that doesn't make them any less friends...a friend is a friend....all in how you make someone else feel....

yeah, a couple... most of the friends from work are like that. We grab drinks after work and do our own fantasy sports with.
sadly i have a friend who has become 1 dimensional. we used to be very close all through college and for years later. life took us in different directions and now our friendship is very surface and 1 dimensional.
man, you're bringing me down

Not really.
I just have a set of very close-knitted friends who does things together like shopping, hanging out, playing sports, trekking and going to the beach.
I find it weird to have one-D friends 'cause I wouldn't know what else to talk about with them except the one thing we do together and that's it. And there's less depth in this kind of friendship, as compared to one where you do more things together.

I have one that I have known over 15 years. She is not only one dimensional but suffers from tunnel vision and lack of insight. She drags my spirit down and I have to pull back from her occasionally. She considers us best friends though *sigh*.

Yeah, I have some friends like that. One of my best friends, is older than me. She never wants to go anywhere besides out to eat, or do anything except watch TV. When we go out to eat, it's always to the same couple of places. And I always have to go to her house. She won't come to my house because "it's too far". I used to tel her, that it's the same exact distance from my house to hers, as it is from her house to mine, but she doesn't seem to grab hold of that thought in the right way, so I just gave up. Everybody has their quirks.

Some people on my softball team, my "drinking buddies", etc.
Some of them I wish were multi-dimensional, others I'm happy with only seeing them when engaged in that particular activity.

It depends how we define what a friend is, doesn't it?
I'd be inclined to call the type of people you describe acquaintances; characters who exist in just one compartment of my life instead of moving through more of them.
I have a huge number of acquaintances.
But far, far fewer friends.

I used to hang out with cartoon charactors all the time, but they kept on blowing each other and walking without using their knees, it was getting out of hand so I gave them the flick

I have a couple that are made out of shiny paper. Good to have a drink with once in awhile, but that's about it.

Animals aren't very complex but I enjoy spending time with my dog. We eat, we play, then he sleeps while I write on here.
