I really like the Dubai Shariton, it is close to the Airport and you can get good internet specials on expedia. For cheep though, you should go to www.southtravels.com. Even just email them that you want something near the airport that is cheep and they will send you a list. Anything is Deira isn't far. Not sure what you mean by "secure", Dubai is very safe. I am a white girl and I feel perfectly safe walking around in the evening alone.

The nearest hotels to the Airport are the Albustan Rotana, Le Meridian Airport and the Millenium Airport Hotel, you dont have to worry about it being secure - crime rates here in Dubai are fairly low! The cheapest option of the 3 would be the Millenium Airport Hotel, there is a bar and a few nice restaurants in the hotel too.

I have to agree with the other person whom responded. I am an American whom travels very frequently to the Middle East. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the entire country of the U.A.E is probably far safer than most cities in the US. If you never been there, it reminds me of just being in Europe in terms of being safe. The few things to worry about are parking and traffic. Not too sure you will find anything cheap in Dubai. Most decent hotels in the UAE can be pricey. I actually stayed in a hotel that was literally in the airport in Abu Dhabi and it was one of the nicest hotels that I have ever stayed at. Plus it was in the airport. What airline will you be flying?

The "Millenium Airport Hotel" is near to the airport and has reasonable prices, a decent nightlife and a good Tex-Mex restaurant.
