Over the past 4 decades from the 70's-2000's, I would have to say that 5 World Class Players seemed deserving of lifting up the world cup.

1.Johann Cryuff
2. Platini
3.Roberto Baggio
4.Dennis Bergkamp
5.Luis Figo

atlhough there are many others, these 5 were all around good players and good guys.

Short term memory: Figo and one of the Ajax guys- I think Bergkamp.
Long term memory: What the hell is that guy talking about? Gotta be Johan Cruiff.
Speaking of: Best player to never participate in WC: Ryan Giggs.

I guess who do you think is best of this group of Hall of Famers...Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff, Sir Stanley Matthews,
Marco VanBasten, Ruud Guillit, Alfredo DiStefano, Lev Yashin,
Ferenc Puskas, and others you can think of. I guess DiStefano,
Platini, and Cruyff would have the best arguments from this group.
I would guess DiStefano would be my choice he was considered the world's greatest all-around player in his era.

I personnaly think Luis FIGO (Portugal) deserves to win it, he has been around the league for so long and has more than represented his country well, i think the only reward for that is a world cup championship. Thats my opinion, who do you think deserves it?
