hichefhei...I am NOT in favor of having them be a part of any government. They DO scare me and should not be trusted. They have done nothing to earn the trust of the world and everything to make us wary of them.

The Taliban are by far the worst, most repressive group in Islam. In Taliban controlled regions, women who take in sewing to feed their families are threatened with death. Most of the girl's schools have been firebombed and are now closed. A high school principal was beheaded. Men who trim their beards are beaten and imprisoned.

Afghanistan was a country that the US truly liberated, but then we abandoned it before a stable government could unite the country.

If the ultra conservative Frist is offering this as a solution, the Taliban are likely so imbedded that it's hopeless. The US no longer has credibility to do nation building there. That's what was needed, and we didn't do it. We had our chance and missed it.

Cork, Afganistan and Iraq have NOTHING TO DO WITH ONE ANOTHER.

No, the Taliban should not be allowed in the Afganistan government. We should get more troops in that damn country and DO IT RIGHT unlike we did the first time. The only reason the current U.S. government would want relations with the Taliban is to attempt to gain more access to oil pipeline works throughout Afganistan - as they attempted in Sugarland, TX in 2000 and 2001.

Bringing back the Taliban would be equivalent to bringing back the Nazi party in Germany. Not smart.

sure we should! Then we can find Bin Laden and take him and his organization DOWN! Of course it is a bad idea, and one that makes me think that the GOP and BinLaden are in bed together. Sorry, it just does. 9/11 happens, we don't find the people responsible, we stop looking for them, we create a HUGE diversion called the Iraq war, and now they want to slip in something about giving leadership of a vulnerable country to a WELL KNOWN terrorist organization? Doesn't that scare you RLP?

Why do you think that the GOP is endorsing this? that is the part you should question and fear...

The Taliban should be made part of the US government. Both sides could learn a thing or two

Look-- they are still in charge.
This is got to end somewhere.
Their own Country prefers them over USA>
What do you think.
We are losing over a billion dollars a day in afghan and Iraq.
Not even counting lives lost and wounded.

Cut your losses and hit the bargain table.
Jeez we compromised in the Korean conflicts-
ran from nam>
We can never finish what we start.

Let't dump the GOP and put peace back on the table.

if they had a democracy they would definetly win a portion of votes, so if your for democracy you have to deal with opinions you dont like.
personally i think all religious fundamentalists (people who believe that any book holds absolute truth rather than general hints) should be stuck on an island together and have a pray off to determine who is right, or kill each other and leave the world to us sane and reasonable people.

Absolutely not. Radical people do not know the meaning of compromise nor can they function as part of a group. People
with this radical belief system hate the U.S. how can they function as part of a group with us. We need to stop withe the political correctness, hoping not to offend them and their god and deal with them for the fascists that they are.
