Why does/doesn't the NFL punish players for off-field activities?
What off-field happenings are suspendable and what are not due to the collective bargaining agreement.
(ie: drunk driving, beat a cop, beat a wife, drugs)

Any off field or on field activities can warrant actions from the NFL commisioner and/or the individual teams. These can range from monetary fines, limited suspensions, or lifetime bans.

all of that is cause for suspension
