theoretically, one. same thing with an open topped box where the sides have only length and width (no depth). however, in practicality, i've always argued two...

The question wasn't how many sides does a hollow sphere have. With the question being asked, it would be wiser to assume that the sphere is solid, making everyone who said 2 sides (the inside and outside) true only if the sphere were hollow. I understand a side as being one of the surfaces forming the outside of or bounding a thing in this case, and in so understanding, I would have to say that there is no distinction that can be made other than the surface of the sphere, so the surface becomes one continuous side.

One says a plane or 2-D figure has sides, but a sphere is a 3-D figure, so it's meaningless to speak of its having sides. The simplest polygon is a triangle with 3 sides. Then we have quadrilateral-4, pentagon-5, hexagon-6, heptagon-7, octagon-8, nonagon-9, decagon-10, undecagon-11, dodecagon-12, tredecagon-13....n-gon-n sides. So how many sides does a circle have? An infinite number really. Some mathematics approximates it with dozens of hundreds of sides.

I would say that the sphere has an infinite number of sides for the high level math answer, or no sides for the basic math answer, or it has 2 sides- inside and outside for the smart-alec answer.

Infinity.sides can be taken as a st.line or a plane.A sphere's surface can be consided as made up of innumerable very small
planes.Hence the answer.

A sphere has a boundary that is spherical, so I guess you could say it has 1 side. That makes sense to me, anyway...
