Why is there research to inhibit glycoproteins?

Because some of them are toxic to human body most of the times they come from sick methabolic paths. To inhibit their formation, would mean to stop human deseases. For example they are formed in diabetic people, but in this particular case they wouldn't stop desease, only side effects.
