That is the first time I ever heard of that. They are totally integrated, as far as I have ever heard - also you can't say they are more integrated than anybody else because you have the same thing in la Republica Dominicana. This is from my own personal experience, but I think the only group Cubans discriminate against is people who don't work. And that makes them different from Dominicanos because you can be unemployed and still be OK with the Dominicans. The Cubans want to know "whats ron wit chu?" I am going to guess that the black man was feeling discriminated against by some specific Cuban, because it is so totally wrong to make a general statement that white Cubans don't like black Cubans. Just to go back in history for a little bit, black people did not have a fair chance under the Bautista regime, and Castro did change that, so maybe there might be racism still present in Miami Cubans who wish to go back to the days of Bautista. That's not the general rule. That black man you met was kind of right, but mostly wrong. Also, did this guy have a job? Because if he didn't, that discrimination he is experiencing isn't because he is black.

That's incorrect. Cubans, both dark and white left their country because of the conditions Castro wanted to impose on them. The thing is, in caribbean islands like Cuba or the Dominican Republic, white people are usually the ones that are rich so white cubans with money were able to leave Cuba opossed to dark cubans that were poor. Some dark people had money and were able to leave too, but those were the less. White people can be racist or discriminate black people no matter if they are cubans or north americans...

From what I have seen and heard (I have been to Cuba and have many Cuban friends), Cubans are the most integrated people. I know the Cubans discriminate against the Black Americans, Jamiacans and Haitians. I am sure there may be some underlying issues between the black and white Cubans.

The dictator in Cuba was Fulgencio Batista, not Bautista. He himself was a mulatto with perhaps influences of Native American Indian from the Caribbean lineage, not the North American Indians. If you see Cubans' DNA lineages and historical immigrations, Cubans have a majority of European lineage, followed by African (slaves imported from Africa, and Black Haitians), with contributions from all kinds of ethniicities from European countries in small minorities, Jews, and even Middle East people like Armenians and Palestineans. The Spaniard majority that colonized Cuba under Spain were mostly from Southern Spain, and after the 1902 Independence from Spain more than one million more Spaniards, white, came to Cuba from Asturias, Catalonia, Galicia, many of them blonde and blue eyed from the Visigoth influence in the northern half of Spain. Some Spaniards would copulate with Black women and have mulatto descendants, but many would not marry those women and had their own marriage to a white woman as the number one priority. Cecilia Valdez, a Cuban zarzuela---similar to a Broadway musical--has the typical story of a Cuban rich white man seducing a Black woman and leaving her for a white one to marry. Maria La O has the same theme. So Spaniards liked Black women to have fun and sex, and white women to marry into society. Many Cubans today, even in Miami, prefer not to associate with Blacks or Blacks even from Cuban families that fled Castro.
