Because they can be....the anonymity of the Internet allows people to mouth off with stuff they'd get punched in the face for if they said it to you in person.
Someone much wiser than myself once described the Internet as like going to your local junior high school chess club and handing out a bunch of automatic weapons and crystal meth....

Because those people have been made fun in the past and they want to take it on the other people. take bullies for an example, they are all mostly fat.
