Depends on the threat, seriousness of whatever/whoever is making the threat and if the threat is able to be carried out by the threatener.

Hurricane Katrina posed a serious threat days before it reached land. Everyone knew the threat was life threatening. Some people reacted by leaving the area, others reacted by staying. Many of those who stayed, could've walked out.

All threats should be taken seriously, if you don't react, expect someone else to react for you or ignore the threat, you make yourself vulnerable and potential victim.

That depends on a lot of factors. Is it a prank, is it life threatening, does it involve loved ones, etc. It is hard to judge on an act. I have froze on some "acts" and reacted instantly on others. That was dependent on time, place and how I was feeling at the time.

for each individial it will depend of their own sense of danger related to past experience. how vigiliant are they, at well level do they percieve a threat, how intouch with reality, and how do they perceive their own sense of ability to protect themselves. ie if I am a police officer who has been trained, am wearing a vest and have a gun I may not feel as threatened as a woman, alone who has a disability.

depends on situation--generally have adrenalin rush after fact (car accidents, fire, etc) for immediate threat or danger, still depends, if prepared can respond automatically or reflex. don't assume a situation, may leap before you look
