before I went to bed. I woke up and found the front windows to be fully open in the morning. I am more than 100% sure I locked it up. There was no sign of damage- how could this have happened?
Could it be that someone else's transmitter opened my windows? Could it be that I did not press the lock button a second time, which would give the car some additional signal not to open the windows after a while? Did anyone else encounter such a thing? Any thoughts / hypotheses / similar experience?

It is just possible that some one else has a car with the same code as your remote (though unlikely). It could be a faulty receiver unit in your car. Or it could be something as crazy as a signal from a local radio/radar station, or a passing aircraft, that caused the door locking mechanism to operate. I read recently of two modern Mercedes passing a spot on a UK motorway and both had 'engine failure', within a few metres of each another . The rescue people knew of this problem and pushed the cars a little way down the road - and all was well. An RAF Tornado aircraft crashed in Germany many years ago, and it was assumed that transmissions from a high power radar station over which it was flying had affected the aircraft's computerised flying controls.

On the other hand you might have forgotten to operate the remote correctly - after all, it is a new car and you are not yet fully aware of its foibles.
However, you could take it back to the dealer and ask if there's a service notification concerning this 'fault'?

You had to leave them open. You cant open windows with a transmitter either. As long as nothing was taken and no damage........dont sweat it.

I bet it's an electrical problem. My windows to used to open on their own and we called my car "Christine". It was a simple fuse fix. You should take it in for inspection.
