If I was a Marlins Fan, I would be screaming for a new owner. Maybe one that knows something about baseball.

What idiot owner would fire a manager that every single one of his young players love?

Only in Florida.

Loria is MLB's version of Matt Millen!!!

I understand that Girardi may have been a little difficult but the bottom line is he took over an entirely gutted team that seemed certain to lose 100+ games and after an 11-31 start orchestrated an amazing turnaround that had the Marlins in contention for the wild card until the last week and a half of the season. Everyone who played with Girardi or covered him during his playing career said he was going to be a terrific manager and so far those predictions seem to be on the money. But why go after a quality proven manager when Jeff Torborg is available.

Yeah I knew it was gonna happen (simply b/c theyve been talking about it for awhile) and I was still almost shocked when it really did happen. So stupid. If i were the Marlins players I would boycott or something, he had them believing when no one else did and he almost pulled off a miracle. He was the best coach this year by far...no one else could have motivated them enough to contend that much.

I dont know what the big fuss is about though with him and the Cubs, Baker had just led his franchise to a WS (lost but went) before he came to the Cubs and he was 5 outs from a WS with the Cubs his first year. No one is gonna turn that team around. They suck. They are horrific. You cant have that much money tied up into 2 pitchers who have made like 15 combined starts in the last 300 games and expect to win consistently. Plus going out and overpaying for mediocre players isnt the way to do it. Its not the manager (wasnt Baker) its the front office...GM Owner etc....they are clueless and just care about making money...

The owner for the Marlins sucks ***. Hopefully the Cubs will sign Girardi as the next skipper. He has the intensity they need to get the team winning again.

The owners and Girardi had a falling out several months ago, it was only a matter of time before it happened. Maybe it is just me, but I see Girardi becoming the next Cubs manager.

I feel sorry for the Marlins fans. They can end up getting Dusty Baker. As a diehard Cubs fan, I am happy of the news on Girardi

Yeah I believe it! Because they have been saying they were going to for the past two months! Can't wait to see him lead the Cubs next year! And why do people keep thinking that Girardi would rather go to San Francisco or Washington? Managing the Cubs is his dream job people! He will be in Chicago next year!

Yeah, I can believe it.

Now let's see if the Cubs are dumb enough to pass on him. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Giants jump in and try to grab him.
