The most important legal issue in MY opinion is if you are in the business of contracting, whether building, plumbing, electrical, excavation, masonry etc... YOU NEED to have your ALL your customers sign a "Mechanics Lien".

This simple piece of paper states that if they ( your customers) don't pay you, then you can put a lien on their property. Sound harsh ?? Well that's what business is all about. There will always be those jackasses$ out there who plan on NOT paying and YOU have to protect YOU for no one else will !! We found out the hard way.

Where is it written in the world, for the average person starting a business that they put their heart an soul in to, that they must have this "mechanics lien" signed ?? ?? We knew nothing of it till we needed it. Now we cover our butts ! And I will continue to inform others of the same process.

You can visit any lawyers office for a copy of this lien and then re-word the ending to accommodate YOUR business name !
