Gold resits most acid attacks, except the combination of concentrated nitric and hydrochloric acid. If you use sulfuric acid, you should be able to oxydize most other metal save for gold and other precious metals like platinum.

Hi. Depends on the metal and it's properties. Some would dissolve in acid, some could be "de-plated" electrochemically.
