There are plenty of websites out there that will be able to tell you far more about Metallica than anyone here could write. However, all you really need to know is that they rock.
I suggest you work your way through the following whilst listening to "Ride The Lightning" and "Kill 'em All" (their finest albums imo) at extreme volume!!!

I can tell you why Metallica are better than steps.
1. Steps needs someone else to write their songs. Metallica write all of their own.
2. Steps rely on other musicians to back them up. Metallica can actually play a wide variety of instruments all by themselves
3. Steps needed their youth, beauty and clean cut image to sell records. Metallica are a bunch of ugly, nasty Bas*ards, and people still like them.
