Others are Western Digital and Hitachi.

As far as size that is really up to what you think that your needs are, but most computers are coming with between 80-200 GB hard drives.

There are some hard drives that are coming out that are 500-750 GB.

There are 3 major manufacturers of HDDs, Western Digital, Seagate, and Maxtor. The most popular is probably Western Digital or Seagate. I prefer WD, but that's my choice. Capacities are always climbing, I guess a normal type would be 250GB. Terabytes are already coming out, so a 250GB will soon look like a flash drive.
