dates of scans???

i was just wondering when you have your first scan and how early you can find out what sex your baby is..? thanks very much

When you have your first ultrasound depends...you might have it around 8 - 10 wks. You won't be able to determine the baby's sex until about 18 - 22 wks...then only if the baby's position cooperates!

Usually around 12 weeks but earlier if you have a history of miscarriages and the earliest you can determine the sex of the baby is around 16-17 weeks but sometimes not until 20 weeks or later and that is only if the baby is in a position where you can see.

hiya firstly congratulations.
dating scans are normally around 6-12 weeks
I'm booked in for a gender scan when I'm almost 17weeks, the clinic I'm going to starts gender scans from 16weeks, when i questioned them about why so early when most do it from 20 weeks they said at 16weeks you can see what it is basically boys will have bits on show girls wont.
also would these clinics be able to charge as much as they do if they couldn't tell that early ??

My mother in law is a tech and she can tell as early as 14 weeks, most doctors won't schedule you until 18-22 weeks though

in the u.k you usually get a scan at 12 weeks then again at 20 weeks, sexing is done at the second scan, if possible.
