My two year old granddaughter has the same thing and my daughter took her to the doctor just last week. She has allergies and they said that she has a head cold that has triggered her allergies. She was put on a nebulizer again and she is much better this week.

I would try that new stuff called Simply Saline. You spray the mist up their nose and it helps break the congestion up. I would then give him some Benedryl. As long as he has no temperature and the drainage is clear I wouldn't do much more, but if that changes he needs to go to the doctor because he could have an infection. At that age alot of times it could end up turning into an ear infection and that is really painful for them. Good luck, and I hope he is feeling better real soon.

mine did this all the time they had allergies and antibiotics dont help allergies. the guidelines my doc told me for when a baby needs to go to the doctor is when they have a fever over 100 which cannot be controlled with meds. when they have a fever of any kind which lasts more than 3 days if they have vomiting or diarrhea with fever , if they are listless or unable to be consoled,if there is blood or mucus in their stool,or if they have a cough which lasts more than 3days .................run a vaporizer its getting colder and u are prob running heater at night and drying out the air a vaporizer will fix this also the moisture catches free floating allergens in the air use a vaporizer not a humidifier i dont care what anyone says they are not the same i had 2 with allergies and the vaporizor works better. good luck hope he feels better soon

sounds like it could be allergies. My 20 month old has gotten them since she was about 6 months. The symptoms sound the same. However we recently moved to a new state, and they went away.
Sounds like something in the air, if he only gets it at night, it could be something in his room, dust. maybe try a dehumidifier.

the only time that my son (he's 14 months) had pink runny eyes replaced into while he had pink eye. it is extremely hassle-free to get - exceptionally if he attends daycare. If the "gunk" popping out of them is a creamy yellow colour, it is better than possibly pink eye. pink eye could be dealt with with antibiotics. it won't sparkling up by using itself. i could advise taking him to the well-being care provider to be checked. yet another advice no rely if it is is pink eye - ascertain which you do no longer touch your eyes without washing your hands because of the fact this is going to likely be somewhat hassle-free so you might capture it. As for the drops in the event that they're prescribed, i found that the least complicated replaced into to manage them replaced into to gently "pinch" the decrease lid of my son's eye on the two aspects to form a "pocket" to place the drops in somewhat than putting them straight away on his eyes because of the fact they could burn a sprint.

try putting Eucalyptus or Peppermint oil in his/her bath water at night before bed for congestion. Also give him/her orange juice for vitamin C. these will prevent over medicating the child.

If it's clear then it's allergies. If it's yellow or another color then it's an infection. Sounds like allergies though.
