During the Mexican wars in 1846 should the USA have taken control of Mexico, and then pushed right through to Guatemale? This looks such an obvious thing to do as The USA would have reduced their southern border to a manageable length.

Just a thought, what do you think?

Probably not. Remember, oftentimes more is less. Having more land means more work trying to control it. But, then again we would have more natural reasources as well like oil.
But I still think we are better off having had not taken it. It would not have been an easy task as well.
We just need a Gdamn wall!
Our politicians need to do their job!

You want usa to get involved in war with mexico ? For what ?

by the way, poor mexico, all the southern states were mexicos once, incl. california as well, do you realize that ?

We were headed west, not south. We wanted California and the Pacific coast, and everything in between, but no more.

The US has never desired a land empire - which it would have with Mexico, Canada, or other places many have claimed we should take [Cuba for example].

of course, the US was granted by god the right to invade any country, murder any people it wants.
