I've already called my doctor..I'm just wondering what others have done. I switched from the patch to the pill about three months ago. Now I know that they say that you should give a new pill 3 months or so to adjust. I'm on the last week of active pills for my 3rd month..I've started my period a whole week early!!! It's so frustrating. I've never been irregular before and it's driving me crazy! Will it ever even out again? Do I need a different brand of pill? Any advice would really help.

Grrrr...just found out that my doctor is out of the office until tomorrow..I hate waiting for an answer. I'll probably ask him to switch me to a higher dose as many of you have suggested. That seems to me like the best thing to do :-)

You could quite possibly need another brand. I was taking OVCON and had a bunch of break through bleeding in the middle of the month I switched to Yasmin 28 and it made it all better.

A number of factors can contribute to starting your cycle early. Have you started early the 2 months previously or just this one month? Are you exercising more? Are you taking any herbal or vitamin supplements? Are you dieting?

If nothing has changed and your cycle has just gone all wonky, then I'd talk to your doctor sooner, rather than later, to see if perhaps you might need a slightly stronger dose of pills. Most doctors like to start patients on the lowest dose possible, and sometimes you do need to have the dose adjusted.

If you've made some changes to your lifestyle, then just be patient and give your body time to adjust. If your cycle continues to be wonky, I'd see your doctor in a month or two.

If you have any breakthrough bleeding (spotting in the middle of your cycle) or if your period is exceptionally heavy, then see your doctor sooner.

Good luck!

you did the right thing to check in with your doctor.

When I was on the pill it was pretty low level, but kept my periods regular as clockwork, and also allowed me to move my periods back as far as I wanted if I was travelling, or having periods was just not convenient, as I just keep taking them until I was ready to have them.
