You have some dead organic matter underground that the fungi are decomposing. They will be there until they have used up all the food (the underground root or whatever they are using as a food source). When the food is gone they will die out.
Fungicides only postpone the decomposition. It's best to let them do their job and die out. If the buttons above ground are unsightly just knock them over with a back of a garden rake. Time will take care of your problem.

Mushrooms growing in the lawn means you have alot of organic matter in the soil. They will not injure your lawn, just a little unsightly. If there are many you can break them and they dry up rapidly. They usually show up more often in damp weather, and shadier parts of the lawn.I wouldn't use chemicals to control them, save that for more serious problems.

I live in Wisconsin, and this past summer I had mushrooms in my yard due to too much rain. When the sun finally come back out, they dried up. So I didn't do anything about them, but you might want to check with your local nursery for help. Good luck.....

Underneath a mushroom cap are either gills or tubules that contain the spores that fungi use to asexually reproduce. When the millions of spores are released from the mature cap, they grow into mycellium (fungal roots) from which the mushrooms grow. You can reduce the population by picking the 'rooms before they open and drop their load of spores.

It's likely there is some dead wood in the lawn that allows the spores to attach. It doesn't take much.
You can get lawn fungicides to eliminate them.

Must be perfect conditions - ie damp and not too much sunlight. Get your drainage checked, or be happy to have free mushrooms.
