Because we can think outside the box. Most people just follow the script. The script reads, "Get pregnant. Get married. Get divorced. Raise dysfunctional kids".

Please don’t think this is sarcastic. I’m not trying to be rude to you:

Honestly asking “Why do some people choose not to have children?” is sort of asking like, “Why do some people choose not to take on a pointless life-changing burden”.

I don’t know anyone that has children that actually planned them. Everyone will tell the truth when the get drunk. The story is always the same: They got pregnant by accident!

I hope I explained this without sounding too sarcastic.

Some people just know that they don't want kids. I have one age 11 and if I had to do it again I would not. Not in this day and age. In America most children are in single parent homes and the ones in 2 parent homes are in day care. The economy sucks so both parents have to work and Americas children are being raised by day care providers which is a whole different subject altogether. There are a lot of mean people in the world--you cant even send your kids to school these days without worrying if they are going to make it home alive. This is just my opinion --My kid is the Greatest Kid ever but the world just isn't what it used to be and it is hard being a KID in the world today.

1. Because they recognize that aren't cut out to be good parents for whatever their reasons.

2. Because they don't feel that children are necessary to having a full and satisfying life.

3. Because they see children who to be loved and choose to adopt instead.

In my opinion, people who don't get what a responsibility parenting is don't need to be parents. There are so many children being (barely) raised by men and women who are clueless. Parenting isn't easy under the best of circumstances (when you're stable, educated and have an involved partner), much less when you're too young, too unstable or frankly too selfish.

If one chooses to have children, then great. But before they do, they should stop and ask themselves "Why?"

Everyone I know, including myself and my husband, who chose not to have children didn't make the decision lightly. It was pondered for a long time.

I think some people choose not to have children because they realize that raising children properly is a huge responsibility.Just simply giving birth to a child doesn't mean that your life just goes on as usual.Your child will be a very big part of your life for many many years to come.So I guess that some people just simply know that they are not ready or either just not capable of such a large responsibility.

Because children are a huge responsibility and some of us do not feel up to that. I personally have a fear of failure that I will not be able to raise a child to the standards that I feel are necessary to make that child a better human. I am also selfish and enjoy my "me time". Children will get in the way of the plans that I have for the future.

I chose not to have children because my wife and I don't like children. Not that we don't like - I mean, when my nephew is visiting it's cool, we play and have fun, then I give him back to his parents. It's pretty simple. There's this idea that's probably to a certain degree promulgated by religious ideologies that people are required to have children if they're married. That isn't true for me.

Some people just are not cut out for it. Like me I don't plan on having kids. I just don't see them in my future. I have so many other things consuming my life I just don't have the time or the patience for a child. And it is probably best to not bring a kid into this world with feelings like that.

I have never liked kids but they like me for some reason. Also I don't want to be stuck with any man in my life for 18 years + if I don't have to. So I strap it up!!!!

Often people simply can't afford children with the high cost of living these days. In many marriages both spouses have to work and so one spouse can't stay home with the kids.

some people feel that children ties them down. They want to be free to travel. It could also be for financial reasons, if they feel that they cannot afford to have children. Then, there are some couples that just don't like kids.

It's apersonal choice that everyone get's to decide. Children are a blessing, but some people know that they can't handle a child so they don't bring any into the wrld. Actually, that's not a bad thing if you think about it. If you don't want any, you obviously can't cope wit 'em. Y have 'em, n not love 'em?
