I am on birth controls and this is the week on the placebo pills which should mean I am getting my period. I haven't gotten my period yet though. Could a missed period while on birth control pills be a sign of pregnancy?

Yes, it could. Antibiotics or not taking your pill correctly could leave you vulnerable to pregnancy. Stress or other illness could make a change with your body, making your period not arrive at the scheduled time. If you're worried, take a pregnancy test in a few days.

Yes and no. I'm on the pill also and it takes me two or three days to get my period after I started taking the placebo pills. Also it may be caused from stress. You can be late with your period if you have a lot of stress. But lastly, you could be pregnant. The pill is only 99% effective, and although that sounds like good odds, it can happen. Just relax! It will all turn out alright!

Birth control pill use.
The effect of using birth control pills on a woman’s subsequent
menopausal period is in large measure an unstudied phenomenon,
but birth control pills – which work by suppressing your native
hormones, can themselves lead to many health problems. Many of the
problems of estrogen dominance, including fluid retention,
depression, headaches, and urinary tract infections, are experienced
by women using birth control pills. Everything we’ve said about the
negative effects for menopausal women of using progestins applies to
the progestins used in birth control pills. Having altered your
normal hormonal cycles when using the Pill, you are more prone to
symptoms at midlife as well as potentially more serious health problems.
This is because the synthetic estrogens and progestins used in the
Pill can interfere with the body’s own progesterone receptors. The
progestins are more potent and may inhibit the product of your body’s
own sex hormones.

the pill isn't full proof so yes, you could be pregnant.. but the odds are low of that.. sometimes in some people the pill causes them to miss a period.. but if it has never happened before you might get a test just to know for sure.

Sometimes if you are on birth control a long time your periods can dwindle off to very little or nothing but it is always a possibility you can be pregnant, I would invest in a pregnancy test.

I think when you stress too much or are under too much stress you can cause your own body to miss a period. Relax and let your body naturally flow. It could be a sign of pregnancy if you have had unprotected sex, but chances are slim.
