pronounced as the car but with 'ah' at the end. I also like Gwendolyn (Gwen). Do you have any beautiful/unusual names that I could perhaps add to my list? =)

for the record, i know that porsche is pronounced 'ah' at the end i'm saying that instead of spelling it as'porsche' i'll be spelling it with the 'ah' at the end. I'm just clearing this up for little miss jump the gun who commented on the spelling. =)

If you really want a name that sounds like a German sports car then fine - but don't you really mean 'Portia' as in Shakespeare's 'The Merchant of Venice'? The latter name is pronounced like your new version.

Incidentally, you could be condemning your child to a miserable school life if you give it an unusual sounding/spelled name. Kids can be so cruel. And in 20 years time your daughter might see her name as a bit silly. Gwendolyn is much nicer.

Anyway, good luck in deciding on a suitable name.

The name you have selected is correctly spelled as Portia
It looks too much like the car company if you spell it as Porscha
(Porsche is the car company in Germany)

I like Portia (Shakespeare) better than Porscha. The way you spelled it reminds me a lot of the auto. Only one letter different and you'll be giving birth to a very nice sports car. :D

The names (Portia and Porscha) are pronounced the same.

Is she your child or your pet?

Children don't need to be named something unusual and further complicated by a unique spelling to insure all her records get screwed up.

Unless of course your goal in life is to make your child's life more difficult then it needs to be for your own sick amusement.

Are you just going through a list of names from the strip club?

Gwendolyn sounds classic. Porscha sounds like an exotic dancer. (no offense!) Names that I think are pretty and unusual are: Madelyn, Skylar, Siena, Camille, Nicolette, Michaela.

I like the name Porscha. I don't like Gwendolyn, it sounds like a name used a long time ago. Other names are:

Tiara (my name)
Simone
Janessa

Good Luck.

I've met 3 girls named Porscha in my mid 20's, All 3 were topless dancers. At least your thinking ahead when it comes to employment for you child.

Just to give you a heads up, as my husband did for me. I love the name Alexis. However my husband informed me that when he was in high school there was a girl named Alexis and the "boys" would say stuff along the lines of 'I'd like to drive that Lexis'
The same thing could happen with the name Porscha.
I know its hard to think of your unborn child being in high school, but kids get teased over the stupidest things now, why give them the perfect name to do it with?
Just my opinion.
