Well, you certainly asked a loaded question.....firstly i'm sure i won't get points for the best answer on this one because there are so many "young" askers here...but here goes....
I think you should be 18 years old to drive...yeah ...I know...and at the very least many more restrictions for 16 year olds to drive....such as no cell phones....no friends in the car...and restricted driving times...such as to school or to work....
now to address the work angle of this question....if you can go to school, do your homework...help your family around the home....why not work....but if working affects those areas...you shouldn't work unless it is necessary to help pay for school or help out the family....you need to devote your time to homework etc.
Now, the tattoo issue....many young people who get tattooes often regret the choice they made...example....love tattooed on their knuckles....rock bands that become defunct 6 months after they get it....the area they get the tattooes can prevent you from getting jobs in certain places. By waiting until you are 18 it gives you time to decide what tattoo you want and where to place it. Remember that once it's there.....it's there for life...unless you try lazer removal which can often leave a bigger scar than the tattoo.
I'm not sure of all state laws but i think if your parents go with you to the tattoo parlor...and sign for you ...you can get a tattoo before the age of 18.
And please....check out the tattoo parlor.....make sure they are a clean facility and follow strict guidelines before you get one...you can get hepatitis C , aids, plus infection which can cause blood poisoning.
By waiting, you'll have plenty of time to decide the perfect tattoo for you.
BTW....I have two tattooes.....so I'm not anti-tattoo!

I'll answer that question with a question: How come you can fight in a war at 18 but can't enjoy a beer til 21?
I guess just be glad you get to vote at 18? It's not all fair, and doesn't all make sense, but it is what it is and will be a while before it's changed.

Just because it is legal to do those things at that age doesn't mean it is a good thing. 18 should be the minimum age for all of those things. People should have at least 18 years to learn from all the mistakes they make without being put in a position where they are able to make decisions that negatively effect people other than themselves.

So that the guy that is giving the tattoo isn't beat over the head by an angry father or mother. Give the guy a break, you can wait til you are 18 to permanently stain your beautiful skin and then regret it when you are 35......

Because in order to receive a tatoo, you have to sign a document showing you understand the risks, and most states do not allow you to sign a legal document until you are 18.
