In order to get active delivery of email you can choose to:

1. Run Yahoo messenger and enable it's Email notifier in Properties.

2. Use a POP email program; e.g., Outlook, Outlook Express, and a host of others, including cell phone POP programs, PDA programs and more. You have to pay Yahoo for this type of access.

You will find the settings below.

Incoming POP - pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing - smtp.mail.yahoo.com

User Name - (yahoo user id)
Password - ********

Under More Settings go to Outgoing Server and check the box that says My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

Use same settings as your incoming mail server, check that too, if it isn't already.

Make sure no check is in the box for Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)

Only Yahoo Premium (paid) users get access using those settings.

Yahoo freebie email does not get access and you need a Cell Phone that has browser enabled.

All the best.

Cheers

Check out the link below. You'll need to login and then it will direct you to the page to set up mail alerts to your cell phone. You'll need to know the email address tied to your cell phone. I don't know what it is for Sprint but for Verizon it is @vtext.com. I'm sure Sprint has something similar

From your Yahoo Mail page, choose "Options" , then "Filters".
You can then select by sender or subject or content to alert you on your mobile device.
