Because society is no longer based on God's goodness, but it's own Goodness. It pusheses forward for it's own accomplishments in Material possession, power and control.
However, this is only for a time it will not last forever. The world has indeed change quite a bit with in the lasrt 100 years and what once appeared Good is now seen by many as evil.
All will be revealed by the coming of Jesus Christ and that which is wicked will be done away with. This time for good.
I hope this helps.

This is a question posed by a fairly discouraged person.
I understand.
Everyday I look around me and I see that people are mean, short tempered and locked in their selfish, lonely viewpoints. In groups, people behanve rudely or they withdraw so much that they barely attempt to communicate.
Just this morning I saw a woman get aboard a subway car. She was pregnant, and had a stroller with another infant in it. There would have been more than enough seats, but a groups of guys had taken the seats in such a way that three guys were using up about nine spaces. They had their legs spread out, and were draping their arms off to the sides. They eyed her resentfully and made no move to give up any space. I gave her my seat and a woman next to me complained that she was Mexican and didn't deserve a seat.
At that point the young woman asked aloud if anyone knew what the next stop on the train was. Absolutely no one even made an effort respond. In fact they looked away with anger in their eyes. I checked the map and told her, as I gave her my seat.
I see so much of this every day. I try to be understanding. I realize that these are hard times and people are unhappy, but you really do wonder if we've reached that point right before civilization collapses and people start attacking one another on the streets.
I see no good examples in the media. Our leaders are deceivers, our heros are whores. The hallmark of our times seems to be discourtesy and a kind of brutal entitlement.
The best we can do is try to do the right thing, and hope that someone else will pick up on the example. I am certain that things will get worse before they improve. But I intend to remain a civilized person. If for no one else but my self.

I think that when we do something good for somebody hopefully someone else is watching, hopefully 5 or 10 people. And when they see the good of that situation they take something away with them, so if ever they are in that same spot, they can remember what they saw, and even if they only use a little bit, they pay it forward. Does that make sense? Kind of rambled, I know, lol, but I hope you understand what I am trying to say. Goodness is taught by example, but only if eyes and ears are open.

Apparently because you under-estimate the number of truly good people. Quit watching TV news...
