Basically a hard disk has a series of round metal platters inside that information is stored on magnetically. The platters spin very quickly (up to 15,000 rpm for the fastest drives) and each platter has a head that reads or writes information to the platters by reading or changing the magnetic fields on the metal platter. If you'd like to know the details on how this happens, check out my source.

It is magnetic storage device which means that it is written by a magnate. This is why load speakers can damage it- they produce sound via a magnet,
Inside it contains many disks (the same as those that can be found in floppy disk) that can be written on both sides and a magmatic needle (like a gramophone).
