i thought only lizards and reptiles ingest fruit

Snakes are strictly carnivorous.
While there are blind snakes (usually cave dwellers where eyes are of no real use), most of them do have working eyes, but in general snakes have poor eyesight, relying on the their smell (using the flickering tongue) and in some cases, heat sensitive organs to find their prey.

They are carnivores! They only eat meat e.g mice, lizards & other small creatures, unless it happens to eat a rodent that has just eaten fruits. They go blind if they've been in a fight

Snakes eat bananas because their shape is similar, so it goes down easily. Snakes also like bananas because when they eat them, they don't look too fat. Kids snakes can be cruel to each other, sometimes leading to anorexic and bulimic snakes.
