I'm afraid I'll look too happy! But not going would look bad I suppose. What to do?

The question is how does the manager feel about you?

If she likes you or is indifferent toward you, then go and say good bye and good luck. It never hurts to be polite and leave a good impression.

If she doesn't like you and you can accept burning the bridge between you two, then don't go.

It is a going away party and I'm sure she's happy to go too, so I doubt anyone would notice you being too happy.

Go! If you don't, you may have to deal with the "why weren't you there" twenty questions game. AND, as another poster said, it is a small world and it could come back and bite you in the future (if you don't go).

Office politics really suck!

Years ago a woman worked with us at a company of 100+ people. Very few people liked her, so when she gave her notice, most of us had a going away party but she wasn't invited. Best party EVER!

If your reasons for disliking her are valid, and you can honestly tell yourself that it's her that is the problem, just don't go - be comfortable with the person you are and your decisions - it would be hyprocritical otherwise. If she really isnt' that nice, I bet other people in your office feel the same way and they might even look up to you for not going.

Go to the party, wish her sincere good luck, and eat cake if they have any. When you get home, let out a whoop and do a war dance around your living room.

Don't cha love it when a work-jerk leaves for somewhere else? Ya hoo!!

Go for the food, drink and fun. It's okay to smile and have a good time. Chances are you aren't the only one happy that they are leaving.

You could go to the party, have a great time & set fire to her hair by accident (or make it look like an accident anyway). Happy singe-ing!

Go. Celebrate! You don't have to explain to anyone why you are happy. You could be happy for a variety of different reasons.
Have fun! :)

You're going for those who are left behind. Show them you can be big and move on. Besides, you'll either never see her again, or maybe you'll be in a position where you need her when you least expect it. It's a small world.

I don't believe in being fake. If you don't like this person and don't want to go don't go. You should not feel pressured to put on a face to please other people. You are causing yourself unecessary stress even considering going. I'm sure this person and others know you are not "friends" and shouldn't expect you to pretend otherwise.

I have been in the same situation dont bother there will be plenty of people who say they are going but dont turn up & if there are lots of people going to be there no one will notice.
