Ever since we got Fox Soccer Channel, my son has really gotten into the English Premier League and now he wants to be all British. He says "are" instead of "is" and says "What's all this then?" and stuff like that. Plus, he's a Newcastle fan (or "supporter" as he insists) and wants to have teeth like Glenn Roeder. I doubt there's an orthodontist willing to perform such a procedure, which I couldn't afford anyway. What can I do about this?

one time my wife and i went to a soccer game and sat right behind the goalie!

tell him his has got to support Liverpool!
we have all the history, have the best stadium (history again and sound) and are englands most successful team!

we will even sing our side off the pitch if they lose,

we have a famous song writen by jerry and the pace makers
"you'll never walk alone" and when 40,000 liverpool fans sing it it makes you wanna cry.

we have had some really testing times in our history and always come through 96 fans were killed in a disaster at hilsbrough but we all stay true to our team and support those who need us.

we have a traddition of appluding the away keeper before a game.

we have won 5 european cups famously comming back from 3.0 down against AC Milan (the best team at the time) to win.

famous players and rival managers have all said how amazing the club is and how they would love to be involved some day

even if he doesnt ever become a red (liverpool fan) you must at some point come to Anfield (our ground)

There's nothing wrong with watching football. It's a fantastic game and is to be enjoyed by all. It's easy to play so support him in what he wants to do. Anyway, nowadays there is huge money to be made out of football, and expect to it grow in the US in the next few years, you never know he might end up playing in Europe for one of the biggest clubs around like Newcastle.

Don't worry about the Glen Roeder thing, I'm sure he'll grow out of it, no-one really wants to look like that!

There is no need to be afraid. Brits are very nice. Your son is very bright, he thinks for himself and isn't some kind of "follower". I think you should let him choose what sport likes best and give him your full support. After all, he could become the next David Beckham someday! It could also just be a phase... let him be himself and perhaps you can both watch a few games together. :)

i am from the UK and football (soccer as you call it) is massive there is no reason why your son should'nt like football, but i would advise that he does'nt get teeth like glenn roader. try and watch it with him. It is a great sport when you get in to it.

he's just a kid! let him just live and enjoy life...let him have fun. I'm sure when he gets older he will realize that he wants nice teeth like David Beckham :)
