Everywhere I turn, there's always another race trying to look like me and my friends. Shaved head. Faded haircut. Baggy clothes. Pressed shirt and jeans.

Well, you should be flattered. You've pioneered a new era of fashion into our grand culture. You have the power to change opinions ( or at least their clothes) an move the cultural tide.

Why? That's easy. You're different and look good doing it. Everyone wants to look good, or at least look like people that are looking good. So enjoy you're loyal following for a time. Don't worry, it only lasts about a decade or so.
Trust me on this, I've seen bell bottoms come back into style...twice.
-best wishes.

People are influenced by popular culture, no matter what culture it originated from. You see non-Indian people wearin Henna tats, black people wearing green on St. Patty's Day. Television, especially music, has a lot to do with why some people have adopted the hip hop subculture. Hip hop is becoming more and more embraced by White America and, just like we do, they feed off the culture and mimic some of the style. No harm done.

I didn't know there was a certain way for African Americans to dress, and to be perfectly honesty the "thug appeal" isn't flattering period. lol@ the women dress like hoochies and other races don't? What does color have to do with how you dress? Wear what the hell you want to wear. F#$* everyone else.

Well, I think the so called "African American way of dressing" is just becoming apart of society. Fads change so much and so many people adapt to them that I don't think there is one way of dressing that is strictly for one group of people. Unless of course it's a religious thing or if you are not from the U.S.

Same reason anyone wears the clothes they do. Because they like the way the clothes look on them. Maybe you should spend less time worrying about people marginalizing your blackness and adopt a style that doesn't rely on your ethnicity to validate it.
