It's not a question of which country has the most oil deposits; it's more a question of which countries have the most easily-accessible oil deposits.
Iraq and Iran have rich fields of easily-accessible OIL that is near the Earth's crust. Plus they already have the refinery and distribution facilities in place, making their OIL less costly and more easiy attained. That's why the United States is building the largest embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad; we intend to be in Iraq until we such every drop of OIL from underneath that nation's sands. We do not intend to share that OIL with other nations, at any cost of military equipment or innocent lives.
PREDICTION: We will invade Iran by spring, 2007 for the very same reason: rich fields of easily-accessible OIL. -RKO-

before the US invaded Iraq Iraq was the leader. now who knows?

FYI: one of the "rationalizations" that Bush had to invade Iraq was that the Iraqi oil deposits will pay for the war. where's the money? why is gas so expensive?
