Yes and we choose to do so. Dems are for the easy greasy way out of anything i.e. Slick Willy and Ted Kennedy (or for that matter the entire Kennedy inbred clan). We have to hold ourselves to a higher standard so the values of our country will be maintained.

They seem to be held to a higher standard, but it is a problem of their own doing. They have spent the last decade pretty much calling everyone but themselves a bunch of Godless heathens. Then they go on to act like the very corrupt, extremely flawed human beings they are and cry foul when the Media reports the facts about them. If you are going to place yourself on a pedestal above everyone else then you have to expect that people are going to see what you do. Don't yell the loudest and then act surprised when someone hears you. The republicans clearly get a raw deal in the media, after all allegations of corruption on the part of any conservative get front page news as long as they can squeeze something out of the story, meanwhile any negative story about a Dem is buried as quickly as possible. But again if you want someone to blame it's the conservatives themselves, you cannot place yourself up as the paragon of virtue and expect others to overlook your many flaws.

The republicans run on that higher moral standard which is almost impossible for humans beings to hold to. George Bush Jr. was supposed to come in and clean up congress with the aid of the Christian Right. Nice Job.

Republicans would be unable to even come close to to the moral standards of Democrats, why worry keeping them to a extra effective typical? a hundred and ten Republicans convicted of corruption interior the final 7 years vs a million Democrat says all of it, and that would not even point out each and every of the youngster molesters interior the Republican party.

FACT: There were two politicians involved in this case. One, Dan Crane, was a Republican. The other Gerry Studds was a Democrat.

FACT: Both pages involved were 17-years old.

FACT: One was female (Crane's case) and the other was male (Studds' case)

FACT: Both were given the same punishment a reprimand.

So no, Democrats are not held to a lower standard than Republicans.

Only by the media and the Democratic party. First off, I am a democrat, a conservative but still a democrat. We have all kinds of things in our closet we dont want to talk about.

How many of you are young enough to remember Marry Jo Kopeckne and Chapaqittic bridge? How many of you can remember all the players in and around government for the last 30 years, who, in disgrace, left?

WE as Americans should hold all of them to a higher standard and should start by telling our elected officals, how we want them to run our business. The government is a business and we are all stock holders.

First, we want all our board members to have one retirement system, Social Security. None of this fancy get rich and live like a king off the taxpayers, you will change to social security and fix it while your at it.

Second, Term limits, we dont want politicans who spend a life time in office draining the taxpayers of their hard earned money.

Third, every penny you tax so called " big business" is a penny in tax passed on to us, the consumer, taxpayer, and working middle class. STOP SPENDING MONEY YOU DONT HAVE!!!!

And last, vote what is right for America, and not along party lines. That is what got us into all these messes we have put up with for 50 plus years. Just becuase you belong to one party, dont make them right 100% of the time. If you are not smart enough to ask yourself what is good for America, call on the people who elected you and ask them what they want. Remember, you are suppose to represent THEM and not some party.

I would like to think we are all on level playing fields...but as time goes on, we all show true colors. Democrat or Republican makes no difference. If it is wrong, the individual should pay the price...

Apparently. I think because Christians are Republican people like to run with the false idea that all Republicans are Christian. That's like saying all Democrats are atheists. It's ridiculous.

They claim to be the party of personal responsibility... so when they get caught doing something it always seems a little more ironic... awfully ironic that Foley was the guy supposed to protect the pages, and he gets caught sending questionable emails.

And now Foley is the poster boy for hypocrisy...

No.
But the Republicans have long held the claim that they were the holier-than-thou party of God.

Lesson learned: if you live in glass house, don't throw rocks.
Related lesson: those without sin may cast first stone.
