A friend told me that switching laundry detergents was good for your clothes. She said if you use the same detergent over and over, the ingredients in the detergent would start to break down the fibers in the clothing, leaving them thinner. She also said switching detergents could help remove stains. Is this true?

it is good for the clothes and laundry to have the detergent switched occasionally. Detergents have different chemicals and long term us of one can build up residue on clothes and machinery. Every once in a while you should run vinager through the wash cycle without clothes just to clean the washer it makes the life cycle longer.
It is like shampoo occasionally you should switch them also. Cuts down on build up and refreshes and cleans better.
