Rust is a fungus, caused by a cold damp spell where the grass dose not dry completely during the day. Stop all watering, do not walk through contaminated areas or mow. It will spread every where. If you have Mowed wash the mower deck before mowing again. Use a common fungicide, usually the cheaper the better, because no mater what you will have to repeat the process. Or Waite until next spring and apply before the first mow. One season of rust will not kill a lawn.

Go to your L&G Center and get Lawn Disease Control by Greenview. It has benomyl or bonomyl in it and it will control rust. You put it on with a spreader. If it is localized good L&G Centers should have a hose-end sprayer of liquid fungicide to control it. Ask the Tech what to get if they don't carry these brands.

DON'T get Scotts disease control--it doesn't work on rust.
