I believe their eyes become especially expressive, as the rest of their face is covered up.

awww >< your answers really hurt me ppl, we're not inferior! I'm vieled by my own will and I love it, no one told me to- that's one thing. Another thing, we don't have to cover our faces too btw.
And you probably won't understand. It's only for protection. People the rate of raping in Islamic countries is way less than anywhere else cz women are protected, wearing tighs or mini skirts is provocative to any man all over the world. Compare the raping rate then talk about liking it or not. Plus we're asked to do that only in front of alien guys. We're not disrespected. Contact me if you want to see how beautiful, stylish and awesome a viel could be XD
My style is always colourful and stylish, yet I'm vieled.
doesn't bug me at all, honest =)

veiled ladies- ahemmm

u ll have to go into the genesis of Islaam and the veil.

During the times of Prophet Muhammad, there was absolute anarchy in Arabia. Powerful people would simply abduct/ take the good looking ones. Also, the frequent dust-storms would trouble the ladies much

veil was a good tool to avoid/prevent these hassles.

Now regarding the eyes- In somecases, ya the eyes do become more expressive, but in most cases the eyes n eyesight actually get weakened

I believe, as a Muslim male, that women veil themselves because it is an act of worship that brings them closer to God. I abhor the idea of making anyone wear something against their will. However, are you talking about the regular headscarf or the veil that covers the face? I believe the face covering is a little over the top and unnecessary. I think it's wrong for people to run around as if they are wearing disguises, or as if they're going to rob a gas station. Cover your beauty to honor your Lord, that's great; hide your face because you don't think anyone should know who you are, that's ignorant.

Actually, in a way, I think it is mysterious and elegant. It has an element of mystery, in that you cannot see the bulk of the woman's face- so it kind of puzzles the mind and tantalizes the senses, thinking about what the woman's face looks like in reality.

It's kind of provocative and sexy.

But then, there is the oppressive element. It is sort of sad that women cannot reveal their faces in their entirety.

As I was watching the film "Hidalgo" the other week, it occurred to me how exciting it is to look at women when they wear the veils covering everything on their faces except for their eyes.

I think if they choose to wear the veil as an expression of religion it is fine; much like if a Catholic wears a saint's medal, or the Amish wear traditional dress. I think it is wrong to force someone to wear the veil though.

I think that as long as they want to dress that way it's fine. But if they are doing it because they feel they are inferior to men then they shouldn't. Maybe they should make the men cover up also.

I am fascinated by this fashion.

Good stuff I see with this is the mysticism they have about them. We all know that men love mysticism; but are let down when their self created fantasies end. Yeah, the eye's do pop in this fashion. Sometimes it's good to be hidden and not have ugly, fat, disgusting men making cat calls ruining your day.

Bad stuff I see is that this fashion can be used for oppression of women. When not used by caring men, then the woman just disappears and can be cut out of social issues. Of course, the western society of showing lots of skin also traps the women in the stereotypical "Harlot" which can be equally bad when men abuse this action of women; enslaving them in other ways just as harmful to the woman's soul.

I respect the right of all humans to practice their religious faiths in a non-violent manner. I believe that at times Americans tend to judge others according to our standards. Many folks are convinced that they are correct and those whom are different are wrong. While, I do not feel that females need be covered, I respect those who feel differently.

I think it's awful. Islamic fundamentalists believe women are inferior creatures. If they'll make a chart or worthiness it would look like this: 1) Man 2) Horse 3) Dog 4) Woman 5) Wiesel.

I think it's a woman's right to wear what she wants. I think women dress to provocatively now days, and should be a little more modest.I don't think there is less rape in countries where women dress in coverings,I think there are dirty men everyone and rape women anywhere.WE hear about it all the time ,in the east, in the west , north, south, pretty women, ugly women, little girls who have no sexuality.
