No, they lost any chance at it when Wily Mo Pena made an error in a game against the Jays last week. It was their 66th of the season, giving them one more than the 2003 Mariners. Still, they did manage to finish at 66, which is pretty amazing.

If you check the team fielding on this page, you'll see that Seattle had only 65 in 2003.

The Sox did not set the record for fewest errors by a team in a season. However, they did set a new MLB record for best team fielding percentage, surpassing the 2003 Mariners. The Sox percentage was .989 while the Mariners was .988. MLB officials had to go to multiple decimal points to conclude who held the record, but it was concluded that it was this year's Sox.
